Marketing for Makers is a one day course specifically for artists and craftspeople.
The course looks at cost effective and targeted marketing and promotion for small creative businesses. Aimed at those who are just setting up their own businesses as well as more established businesses that need a marketing boost; the course discusses products ranges, realistic pricing (including wholesale and sale or return), increasing profitability, finding new customers, selling to galleries, cost effective design and promotion and gaining free PR.
The course is run by award winning* business woman Rachael Chambers who owns the Ferrers Gallery www.ferrersgallery.co.uk and who is Contemporary Craft Editor of Craft&Design magazine www.craftanddesign.co.uk. Rachael has a degree in design and over 15 years experience in arts, tourism and education marketing.
*Rachael was Leicestershire’s Rural Businesswoman of the Year in 2006 and East Midlands Businesswoman of the Year in 2008.
Course Details: This one day course is run at the Ferrers Gallery, giving a unique opportunity to use the surroundings as examples and inspiration. The day is a mix of short talks and practical activities where you will gain inspiration for your own business marketing, this way you will leave at the end of the day with a wealth of ideas that can be put into place immediately.
The day starts at 9:30am with refreshments and the course begins at 10am and finishes at 4:30pm.
The cost is £95, which is payable in advance. Funding has been secured for a small number of places via Creative Leicestershire. If you are based in Leicestershire you may be eligible for a part funded place making the cost just £35. Please contact the Ferrers Gallery on 01332 863337 to enquire about availability.

Creative Directions
Rachael now offers one to one mentoring through her Creative Directions programme; allowing individuals the opportunity to access knowledge and advice over a sustained period of time, through regular face to face meetings, email and phone conversations.
Please note that Rachael can only take on a small number of mentees per year
